Mercury 40-50HP (4 CYL) LOWER UNIT 1643-9539

Description

Mercury 40-50HP (4 CYL) LOWER UNIT 1643-9539. Condition is "Used".
Mercury Outboard Lower Unit assembly (20in long shaft). Came off a 40hp 1991 Mercury oil injected (serial #0D032618) Casting number is 1643-9539.
I have been told by a Mercury mechanic that it should fit the following models but buyer is responsible to verify fitment (no returns or guarantees from seller):
78 On up 50 hp 4 cyl not 3 cyl
40 hp 4 cyl 91 to 97
classic 50 (45hp)
Possibly 35hp 2 cyl
I purchased this lower unit off eBay thinking it would fit my Mercury 50hp 3 cylinder, turns out I will not fit 3 cylinder models. I’m just trying to recuperate some of my investment.
Since I cannot bolt it to my outboard, I can’t verify it’s operation or guarantee it however, here is the information from the original listing when I purchased:
“It’s a long shaft outboard with 20” shaft ( but measured about 21”)
This was came off from running motor
Go to forward neutral reverse with no problem (tested)
It’s missing the trim tab anode
I drained the oil and has no water mixing (will ship it with no oil in the lower unit )
Fresh water outboard no sign of corrosion
Have some holes for fin
It has a little chip on the skeg
The impeller looks okay but may need replace and also 1 of the impeller housing nut appear to be different and need to be replace or just leave it. (See pictures)
Please check the compatibility with your motor because I do not accept return, it is heavy so the shipping cost will little pricey”
